Ganesh

Ganesh, the remover of obstacles.
Many people have turned to their spiritual centers these past few days to help deal with the tragic loss of life. This Ganesh statue is situated in the sea actually and can only be accessed during low tide! In Mumbai Ganesh seems to be one of the most worshipped Hindu idols and we have one of the most famous Ganesh temples here as well.

I have a stupid question. One of my employees used Ganesh as an example of how she would like to improve herself. We loved the description so much, we thought about using Ganesh as a "mascot" for a training course. Would it be offensive to my Indian colleagues to do so?

@michael:
Not a good idea. It'd get a similar response as say, having Jesus as a mascot.

I'd have to agree. Using Ganesh as a symbol is one thing, but using him as a mascot is something else and it belittles him. Use the 'Incredible Hulk' or something!
:) Good luck in your training course...
