neighborhood dogs

There are many stray dogs roaming the streets of Mumbai. Several NGOs as well as individuals care for them by vaccinating, spaying, neutering, feeding and loving. I often see dogs sitting on 3 to 5 foot walls around my neighborhood, they look so realaxed, carefree.

I've read that all dogs revert to this look after a few generations of crossbreeding: short hair, tanned color.

Dogs here are treated like children ..loved and pampered all the time.

There are a lot of dogs around here who wander quite freely. Sometimes it's hard to know which ones actually belong to someone and which ones scavenge what they can. Many mistakes have been made by the dog catcher in town. Usually too late to do anything about it too! :(

Luggi: Here a lot of dogs revert to medium-haired, long-nosed, mostly black dogs.

unfortunately most of the dogs in mumbai are treated quite poorly. people throw rocks at them. there are more and more people though that are starting to take care of the stray animals, but the majority still are scared of them and teach their children to be scared.

Many throw rocks at them here too. It's always an uphill battle trying to get people to understand how to think like a dog so they won't be scared.
