Durga Devi
Navaratri (or Navratri as some spell it) is the worship of goddess Durga and hence these nights are known as "Navaratri" (Nine Nights). I believe these idols are also submerged in water on specific days (or just the 10th day?!). I know that Sunday is the day.. lets hope I get out and see some of the action!

Superb blog. Feels good to get a daily dose of Mumbai.
Feel quite nostalgic about India right now. Beautiful blog and interesting pictures. Happy Dushera to you. I have thought many times to start a daily blog here in Michigan, but it is not that interesting here. Indian streets and everything around is so interesting, from a photographic sense.
