sugar and nuts

I think these are channa 'nuts' but I'm not certain. Anyone? And little pellets of sugar. These are often seen during the festivals.

Actually chickpeas are larger. These are the smaller dark brown channa (aka gram).

Dry roasted soybeans are also called "soy nuts".

In the local Marathi language the chana nuts are called 'Phutane'. They come in 2 types the smaller yellow ones and bigger blackish ones. The bigger ones from Mahabaleshwar are very famous.

The sugar ones are called 'sakhar phutane'.

A version of it is used during Sankranti festival. It has a sesame seed in the centre. Making these is an art.
