the real police
Today we went to Borivali National Park in the northern part of Mumbai. We had hoped to see the Kanheri caves, but unfortunately as soon as we got there they stopped admission. But we sat and watched the monkeys torture people for a while. They are vicious little things! I just thought this one on the police vehicle was hilarious. He would grab food from people and climb back to his safe haven!

resourceful little creatures...amazing how they adapt to cities and people so easily, without fear!
yeah, the monkeys at tourist sites in India are very brave. Is this true around the world? Monkeys here steal cell phones I have been told, it has not happened to me, so maybe I should not be falsely accusing the little guys.
You have funny shots lately. Just great =)
does the tourism police do different things than regular police?
no those monkeys are scary! they will do anything to get food out of your hands! i love to look a them, but i'm scared at the same time.
and not sure what the tourist police do. never actually seen them - only seen the vehicles!!
I am also intrigued by the Tourism Police. Sounds scary! Maybe they should have been protecting the tourist's food from the monkey.
The last time we were in Nandi hills near Bangalore, we saw a lot of monkeys. They would snatch bags from people or go into cars (if you leave the window open) and take whatever there is. We saw a monkey go into a car, snatched a bag and climbed up a tree. It thought there was food but the bag had music cassetes. It opened each one and dropped it down. It was so mad that there was no food that it started showing its anger on other monkeys. Very interesting to watch. Another monkey started coming towards me, I had a plastic bag with coconuts, I dropped it and it picked the bag up, went up a tree and started eating the coconut.
