As I've mentioned before water is sometimes difficult to come by in Mumbai and often residental buildings even in the upper class areas do not receive enough water from the local authorities, so they supplement with "tanker" water. This is water brought in from streams, creeks, etc - which i'm sure is filtered somehow, but is still very hard and full of deposits. This water tanker visits our lane daily to supplement several buildings water supplies.

Do people filter it more after they get it? And do they make you pay for this tanker water?
yeah you do have to pay. there are different levels of tanker water - i believe our building gets the most expensive kind which is supposed to mean its more filtered. but yeah.. i think people then use another filter or order bottled water for drinking (which is what we do). water is big business here!
Wow, it put things in perspective for me living in the United States where we sometimes take things for granted.
Certainly puts things in perspective. I love the 'Blow OK Horn' on the back of this tanker.
