quiet sunday

 

This photo makes Mumbai look organized and spacious. This is a view down on Metro Cinema junction on Sunday morning when the area is quiet and hasn't gotten busy yet. On a regular day, this junction would be packed with cars, people, push carts, noise, pollution and chaos! The Art Deco cinema opened in 1938 and initially exhibited only English movies made by MGM. Recently it was redone on the inside to make it more modern, but in a rare moment of sanity builders decided to keep it the same outside to preserve some sense of Mumbai's history.
