Often the trains are so packed that people choose to put their lives in serious risk by riding on the top. I assume they are also probably riding without a valid ticket! This train had many people riding on the top, but by the time I got my camera out it was just these two guys who were more than happy to have their photo taken. This train is passing through Dharavi, near Mahim station.

In many other countries, people do this on top of buses also.

Travelling on top of bus would be "safer". Mumbai trains have live electrical wire on the top. Accidentally touching that wire means death by being toast...
