child labor

Only after looking back at this photo was I struck by this boy's expression. In person he seemed relatively happy to have his photo taken, but here he looks like he's about to cry. Child labor is a harsh reality here all the time, but it seems to be especially prominent during the summer break when schools are closed (now). Posted by Picasa

The picture says a lot, and I'm glad you don't just show the nice side of your town, but give a realistic impression.
Do you know how old the boy is?

no, but i'd say maybe about 10 -12 years old. he was quite small, but they tend to be smaller than western kids, so i have a hard time estimating their ages!

Sad to think how kids are faring in different parts of the world. While this kid is trying to make a living instead of enjoying his youth, our kids here are having the time of their lives.

The picture is plenty of sadness but it's a great one. It could be in the Geo magazine!
