elaborate build up

This building was built specifically for Ganpati and to be the main entrance to the area's mandal! This community is heavily supported by the Shiv Sena and Congress - so they had tons of money to spend. Here's the line as well leading in -- for once it was very orderly and no link skipping!

Exquisite photo. Can you share the exact location of this? Which station, which area?

This building is in the parel area. We drove there, so I am not sure which station is closest but I think its Chinkpoli (however you spell!)

Yes, we were told that it would be taken down afterwards.

All of the plans are still in the planters, the stairs leading up are simple wooden planks, but the rest was so elaborate and once inside you can see that it is housed right in between other buildings from behind.

It's Chinchpokli. Thanks, I really enjoy your snaps from here in SF Bay Area, US. Keep it up. Btw, talking of Ganesh, there is a Ganesh temple in Vazira Naka, Borivli West, where the Ganesh is in a huge rock like a selfskulpture. Visit the temple when you get a chance. Then from there in Borivli East you can goto Kanheri caves in National Park.
